My goal with this blog, is to help you transform yourself from the inside out. Everything I write about is from personal experience. I have taken everything that I have learnt from other teachers, writers and leading figures and applied it to my own life. I don’t take anything at face value. I like to make up my own mind and emotions about something. I expect you to do the same. I try what I have learnt to see if it works, then I bring in my own experience and finally I decipher how to get the best out of personal transformation. It is the best that I hope to bring to you. I want to provoke your thoughts, guide you to see things in a different light and to help you find a way forward.
My writings and teachings are for anyone who wants to get the best out of this life. If you want to heal your life, find fulfilment, have a life of your dreams, live a life of purpose, passion and meaning, then this blog is for you. - calm the mind
- evolve your awareness
My teachings are primarily focused on the one big obstacle that we all suffer at the hands of; our ego. Here is an extract from my book, “We Will All Be Loved” about ego:
The ego is a pre-programed tool that is limited in its capabilities. It is made up of our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. These thoughts, feelings and behaviours are habitual. They are triggered by core belief’s we hold about our self. These beliefs’, fuelled by our environment, give us a false sense of who we are. They have the power to limit our capabilities and block our full potential. We operate from our ego when our beliefs run our life, even if these believes are detrimental to our life and the lives of others.
The ego is also made up of our blind spots; all the things we want to avoid, our defence mechanisms and coping strategies. We know we are operating from the negative aspects of our ego when any of the following are at play; fear, doubt, worry, victim, image consciousness, perfection, isolation, loss, anger, excess, impulse, superiority, inferiority, analytical, self-forgetting, critical, judgemental, self-absorbed. This is not an exhaustive list, but it gives a picture of some of the negative aspects of our ego.
This blog is about helping us to get beyond the ego to the warrior within. I say us because I too am learning on this journey. Every person I meet teaches me something new. When we find the warrior within we can allow this to guide our path forward. It is also about getting to know your ego and its limitations. The ego is a wonderful tool if used properly. Remarkable things have been achieved by ego. But even greater things are achieved when the ego and spiritual self are aligned, and the spiritual self is directing your path to a life of fulfilment.
I see the warrior within as our spirit. It is the purest part of us without the flaws of our ego. It is the source of our authentic power. We need this warrior. Not only do we need it for the world that we live in today, we also need it to help us combat the struggle we suffer at the hands of our mental and emotional habits. Every human being suffers to some extent from their thoughts and emotions. Some more than others. The only way to overcome this is to find the warrior within.
In Buddhism, the term spiritual warrior is one who combats the universal enemy of self ignorance. In Buddhist philosophy, self-ignorance is the ultimate source of suffering. I believe this to be true. Many of us don’t know the potential we possess or where to go to find our strength, courage and determination, so that we can overcome anything we face in life. Many of us don’t know that our suffering is caused by our own thoughts and emotions and not the world around us. What we create in the world around us is a reflection of our world within. If you want to change the circumstances of your life, then you need to change what is going on inside of you. You can do this by addressing your mental and emotional habits and by finding the warrior within.
It is up to each one of us to find our own warrior within, so that we can create a more beautiful life for ourselves and everyone around us. We do this by getting to know both our true self and our false self. Our true self is our warrior. It is our spiritual being. Our false self is our ego. There is nothing wrong with our ego but to get the most out of it we need to understand it. We need to see it in operation. This awareness leads to a better way of life. It brings peace, clarity, happiness and love. One of the greatest gifts you can have is clarity of mind and emotions. When you have this, you are clear about who you are as a person, what you stand for in life and what way you should live your life. Most people, unfortunately run on automatic pilot not knowing what they are about and even if they get a glimpse of it, they doubt it. Clarity of mind and emotions is essential for living the best life imaginable. To achieve this, we need to allow our true self and our false self work in harmony. Doing this creates a wonderful life of limited suffering.
From one spiritual warrior to another, I salute you on your path and look forward to sharing some of your journey with you.
